Fly into Rome.
There are 2 airports in Rome - Fiumincino (Leonardo da Vinci) is the main International airport serviced by commerical carriers such as British Airways, Alitalia and Air France while Ciampino Airport is located closer to the city centre - serviced by charters and low-cost carriers such as Easyjet and Ryan Air. If flying into Ciampion Airport you will need to take a taxi into Rome city centre and then take the rain to the local station as detailed below.
If arriving into Fiumicino we recommend the excellent direct train which you can take from inside the airport. Follow the signs in the Arrivals hall for the station. The ticket desk is on the concourse at the beginning of the platforms. Take the direct train up to the local station Poggio Mirteto Scalo (approx 9 euro each way) - in the direction of Orte. You will need to validate your ticket in the yellow validation boxes before boarding the train. When you take the train you will be met at the station by your hosts.
Trains depart Fiumicino as follows*:
08.06; 08.27; 10.06; 10.27; 10.36
*These times are correct as of Summer 2008 and subject to change.
Alternatively you may wish to hire a car fr the duration of your stay. Enquire for details.
