Sabina, only 30 miles north of Rome at the crossroads of Tuscany and Umbria. Amidst a magical and unspoilt landscape of rolling hills, olive trees and wine groves, fields of wild garlic and sunflowers, rich colours and aromas, it's an unforgettable place to eat, cook, relax and unwind. This is the real Italy with people going about their daily lives, taking time with that perfect cappucino, choosing the 'pane' and 'verdura' and cooking the most wonderful food from fresh almost always organically grown produce. No perfect lettuces flown half-way around the world here! No menus in English or German, in fact, hardly any menus, but what's fresh, what's in season and all prepared with loving care.
Your host for the week is Mark, an Englishman whose passion for for the relatively untouched village life and genuine warmth of the people together with the delicious local food and wine led to the founding of these holidays. You will be welcomed into the kitchen by our team of local chefs, each with their own style of cooking and secrets od the "Cucina Romana" to share. The sessions are a mix of hands on, tastings and demonstrations, with the emphasis on simplicity and great ingredients aimed at the enthusiast not the expert. Olive oil and wine expert, Johnny - with years of experience organising tastings, talking to producers and presenting Italian olive oils and wine - shares his knowledge with you as he introduces you to some of the finest. There's also a guided trip to Rome. However, this week is certainly not just about cooking, but a chance to completely immerse yourself in the atmosphere and pace of life of rural Italy.
You'll stay in a private Italian palazzo dating back to the 15th century, in elegant ensuite rooms. Non-cooking companions are very welcome to come along and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. |
