Tucked away in the heart of the olive country in Andalusia, bordering the stunning Sierra Subbéticas natural park, lies this idyllic rural retreat (a Finca in Spanish). It occupies an amazing setting surrounded by breathtaking views - a panorama of hillsides carpeted with mature olive trees spanning the horizon as far as the eye can see. This is real rural Andalusia, yet the World Heritage cities of Granada and Cordoba are within easy reach, making this a perfect base to enjoy the cultural and historical wealth of the area.
The fresh, fruity aroma of olive oil will flood your senses as you approach the region; this is where the producers of the world’s finest quality extra virgin olive oil originate. Olive oil is fundamental to the cuisine of this region and you’ll really get to know its various flavours in the dishes you’ll be cooking while you’re here. You’ll also have the pleasure of cooking seasonally, with vegetables that are grown organically on the finca land or purchased from neighbouring farms.
The Finca has been sympathetically restored to a high standard preserving many original rustic features with plenty of cosy nooks and crannies for you to nestle in. Shying away from showy extravagance, the atmosphere is very intimate and homely.
Your host and chef Clive has been a professional Chef specialising in Mediterranean (and now Andalusian) cuisine for over 20 years, with a distinguished career in the United Kingdom. His passion for food and cooking led to the launch of his own cooking retreat with his wife in rural Andalusia. The fun-filled cooking sessions are casual, informative and very hands-on. Clive’s laid-back style and enthusiasm for food will get you experimenting and inspired. |
