The climate is typically Mediterranean – hot and dry in summer, mild and warm in spring and autumn, cold at night in winter.
The best time to visit is from March to November – from spring through to autumn.
In Spring you can walk through the olive groves to gather wild asparagus and wild coriander, inhale the delicate aroma of almond blossoms, celebrate Holy Week. Easter celebrations are a major event throughout Spain, and Iznájar is famous for its unique Fiesta. There is also the world famous May Flower Festival in Córdoba.
In Summer – it’s sun sun sun !! Time to enjoy cold Gazpacho by the poolside, savour the real taste of ripe fruit - figs, peaches, plums and watermelons. Enjoy fresh organically grown vegetables and herbs from the garden. There is also the famous flamenco festival in the nearby village of Zambra Dates??
In Autumn, gather wild mushrooms and green olives for pickling, make quince jelly and sensually spiced Andalusian dishes with Pomegranate sauce,
Winter can be very cold although the days may be sunny and warm. Almost everyone in Andalusia work on olives during wintertime, it is a very busy time of the year for harvesting black olives for oil. |
